Some of my favorite local artists aren't big-named bands, but quite often show up on my Pandora stations. The other day 3 songs from one of my favorite small bands came up nearly one after the other and I sent screenshots to my buddy who was the singer in the band basically telling him he was welcome for the money I was making him on Pandora.
He told me he makes about $.01 per stream of his songs.
I don't think I'm surprised by that, but I immediately felt like I should go buy his album off iTunes, because, well, here I was at work, enjoying his work, for basically free.
But I have the album. What I really wanted was to just throw him a few bucks for letting me listen to his songs.
I don't know if this is a good idea, or if it's been tried before to failure, but had there been a 'tip jar' option there, I'd have sent him a few dollars.
Anyone else think that would be a good idea or was I just feeling like being a nice person because I felt guilty about enjoying my friends work for free?

UPDATE - Had a couple ask for the band - wasn't sure if I could/should post it, but here is who I was listening to when I was thinking about it.
I was too lazy to read the rules of the sub and didn't know if it would be considered promoting and get banned. (still don't)
Band's name is/was Resident Hero, they toured with FlyLeaf and Ryan White, the lead singer often did a lot of duet work with Lindsey, the lead singer of FlyLeaf. (I think that's her name).
Great song - http://ift.tt/17iq1TF
